Police Chaplain

The Police Chaplain Program is another resource available to the department. It links the church to the community. Mundelein relies on 4 volunteer Chaplains from local churches and one synagogue. The chaplains rotate duties weekly and are on call around the clock.

The chaplains provide support to the police officer when they are faced with sensitive issues, such as death notifications, which can be awkward for many police officers. Chaplains are better trained to help families deal with their grief and can counsel the victims of crimes. The Chaplains respect confidentiality for both the officer and the community, which makes them easily approachable.
